Jan Mendelsson - piano and keyboard player. We meet him in various genres of artificial music, from progressive rock and jazz to modern-classic or scenic music. Important part of his musical expression is improvisation, which studied with leading czech and world jazz players - Emil Viklický, Karel Růička, Jiří Stivín, Paul Schmelling from Berklee College and others. In addition to piano, where we can see him especially in jazz projects, Mendelsson uses cutting-edge electronic musical instruments. Apart from the classic sounds of analog synthesizers, electric piano, Fender Rhodes and Hammond organ can be heard at his concerts as well as advanced virtual-acoustic instruments, which bring a new sound dimension.
Most of Mendelsson authorship is the nature of the song. He is the author of art-rock songs, jazz themes and modifications (jazz carols), songs for solo singing, composed music for theater, film, presentation, videos, etc.
In the past we could see Mendelsson mostly in jazz groupings, whether it was a legendary duet Jazzika with Ivan Koál, classical group Mletý Standard or NoBand with the New Orleans singer Mirka Jichová.
At this time he worked on projects in jazz and art-rock styles. We can see him in audiovisual productions with the band Distant Bells, which specializes in music of the Pink Floyd. Concerts with lyricist and singer Michal Tříska have more intimate form, while improvisation and solos are in his own jazzy projects.
